License Plate Recognition or LPR

How does it work? 

To use LPR, you must have downloaded the Secure Parking App

A special license plate recognition camera is installed at the entry and exit of the car park. This camera reads the front license plate of your vehicle. To ensure an accurate read, drive through the lane at no more than 10 km/h.

How to park and pay

1. Download the Secure Parking App:
   
   • If the car park has a boomgate, download the app in advance.
   • If there is no gate, simply drive in and park, then download the app.
2. Begin your parking session by:
   • Locating the car park in the Secure Parking App by searching for it by name or location. Alternatively, find the car park in ‘History’ if you’ve parked there before.
   • Tapping 'Park'.
   • Selecting the license plate of the registered* vehicle you are driving.
   • Using the slide function to set the duration of the parking session.
   • Using the ‘Slide to start parking’ to begin your session.

*How do I register my license plate(s)? 

This is done through the Secure Parking App. 

1. Open your ‘Account’ (bottom right).
2. Select the menu item labelled ‘Vehicles’.
3. ‘Add New Vehicle’ as prompted.

Driving a new or different car? 

You must add and opt in the plate of the vehicle to the app to ensure it is known to Secure Parking. Please note that it can take up to five minutes for the plate to sync up, so we suggest performing the update prior to beginning your journey.

What is the car park has a gate?

The gate will open automatically when your plate is read by the license plate recognition camera. You will then be automatically charged for your parking when your vehicle exits the car park. We suggest driving slowly when leaving to ensure the camera can recognise your plate and end the parking session.
